Falcons fall to nationally-ranked West Florida 5-2 in conference play

Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team fell to nationally-ranked University of West Florida 5-2 in a Gulf South Conference match March 28.

The Falcons fell to 6-6 overall on the season and 2-3 in Gulf South Conference play following the loss to the Argonauts, who are ranked No. 4 nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II rankings.

Sophomore Petter Dahlin defeated Juan Cabrera of West Florida 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles' match.

Sophomore Tanguy David topped the Argonauts' Gerrardo Irarrazabal 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles' match.

Sophomores Georg Trompler and Tanguy David defeated Igor Cantanhede and Pedro Cordeiro of West Florida 7-5 in the No. 2 doubles' match, but the Falcons dropped the other two doubles' matches and the doubles' point against the Argonauts.

The Falcons will return to action Thursday, April 4 on the road at UAH in a Gulf South Conference match.
