MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's lacrosse team defeated host Young Harris College 15-14 in overtime in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game April 13.
Sophomore Thomas Vaesen scored a team-high five goals in the victory, which helped the Falcons improve to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in conference play. Montevallo now holds the tiebreaker against the Mountain Lions and can clinch a spot outright in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament with a win over Shorter in its final regular season game.
Freshman Jackson Neufeld contributed four goals, including the game-winning goal in overtime.
Freshman Connor Frederick added three goals and one assist, while freshman Dante Cloutier scored one goal and recorded two assists.
Sophomore Ryan Shea finished with one goal and one assist. Sophomore Kordell Primus scored one goal, while freshman Chaiton Williams registered one assist.
Freshman Luke Stephens won 22-of-33 face off attempts while also compiling a team-high 11 ground balls.
Sophomore Kyle Little recorded 13 saves in the win.

2nd (5:18) | The Falcons and the Mountain Lions continued to trade the lead midway through the second quarter with an unassisted goal by Neufeld giving Montevallo a 8-7 lead.
2nd (0:01) | Sam Gasta scored an unassisted goal late in the first half to cap a 3-0 scoring run by the Mountain Lions, which gave Young Harris a 10-8 lead at the break.
3rd (11:21) | Frederick scored a goal off an assist by Cloutier to trim the Mountain Lions' deficit to 10-9 early in the second half.
3rd (1:48) | Montevallo tied the game at 11-11 following a goal by Vaesen off an assist from Shea on a man-up opportunity late in the third quarter.
4th (13:25) | Vaesen scored the second of back-to-back unassisted goals by the Falcons following one by Neufeld to open the fourth quarter, giving Montevallo a 13-11 lead.
4th (4:09) | Vaesen scored an unassisted goal to give the Falcons a one-goal lead, 14-13, late in the game.
4th (1:23) | Bevan Pate tied the game for the Mountain Lions, 14-14, with his unassisted goal to send the contest into overtime.
OT (3:24) | Neufeld scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the Falcons defeated the Mountain Loons in the conference game.

- Montevallo finished with a 55-44 advantage in shot attempts, including a 33-27 edge in shots on goal.
