MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's lacrosse team fell to No.9 University of Indianapolis 14-12 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest April 6.
Sophomore Thomas Vaesen scored a team-high five goals for the Falcons, who fell to 4-8 overall on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
Sophomore Kordell Primus added two goals, while sophomore Ryan Shea and freshmen Connor Frederick, Dante Cloutier and Chaiton Williams scored one goal each for the Falcons.
Cloutier and fellow freshman Andru Ross led the Falcons with two assists each in the loss.
Freshman Luke Stephens finished 15-of-27 in face-off opportunities and recorded a team-high eight ground balls.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Little recorded 21 saves and registered a .600 save percentage in the loss.

1st (14:15) | Sophomore Thomas Vaesen scored the first goal in the game, assisted by freshman Jackson Neufeld to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
1st (12:41) | Parker Kump tied the game 1-1, scoring unassisted for Indianapolis. 
1st (12:18) | Freshman Connor Frederick scored unassisted to give Montevallo the lead 2-1.
1st (11:26) | Vaesen added another goal for the Falcons to lead 3-1, scoring unassisted. 
1st (01:54) | Jake Zickel tied the game 3-3 for Indianapolis, scoring unassisted.
2st (14:08) | Indianapolis took its first lead of the game 4-3 when Drew Billig scored unassisted.
2nd (05:01) | Vaesen scored his hat-trick goal unassisted, ending a three-goal run by the Greyhounds to trial 6-4.
3rd (13:52) | After another three-goal run by Indianapolis, Vaesen again found the back of the net, this time off an assist from freshman Dante Cloutier, to trim the deficit to 9-5.
3rd (11:55) | Sophmore Ryan Shea scored off an assist from freshman Andru Ross to trail 9-6.
3rd (11:45) | Following the Shea goal, sophomore Kordell Primus picked up the groundball off the faceoff and went straight to goal, scoring unassisted, to cut the Indianapolis lead to 9-7.
 
3rd (4:19) | Montevallo trailed Indianapolis 12-10 after freshman Chaiton Williams scored off an assist from Vaesen.
4th (13:41) | Vaesen netted his fifth goal of the game, assisted by Cloutier, trimming the Indianapolis lead to 12-11.
4th (10:46) | After two goals by the Greyhounds, Cloutier scored off an assist from Ross to trail 14-12.
 
GAME NOTES

• Indianapolis outshot the Falcons 61-28 in the contest. The Greyhounds placed 35 shots on goal while the Falcons placed just 17 on goal.
• The Falcons turned the ball over 25 times, compared to 13 turnovers by the Greyhounds.
• Montevallo finished with a 16-13 edge in face offs.
• The Greyhounds compiled 47 ground balls compared to 32 ground balls by Montevallo.
• Indianapolis cleared 17 of 19 attempts while Montevallo finished just 13-21 in clears.
• Montevallo totaled 22 saves in the contest compared to five for Indianapolis.
