SOUTHAVEN, Miss - The University of Montevallo women's tennis team capped off a successful weekend against top level competition when they faced the Harding University Bison who is ranked #5 in the central region..The Falcons pulled off a close win against a very skilled team winning the match 4-3. 

 Dorotea Hanzek, and Mireia Turro teamed up to defeat Hardings Rylie Evans and Hana Folse 7-6. Emily Hafner and Cyba Ozzor routed out Allison Carpenter and Emily Carpenter (Harding) 6-2 which secured the point for UM.

Winning the doubles point was vital for the Falcons overall victory as the match went down to the wire in singles ending with both teams winning three sets each.  Coach Arielle Butler was proud of the competitivness displayed by the team, "Proud of our womens team coming up big and getting the doubles point that set us on track to win the match."
 
Montevallo tennis assistant coach Arielle Butler is a graduate of Harding and a former member of the tennis team there where she was a two-time All-Great American Conference player and helped the team to a conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2014. Butler had this to say about the opportunity to coach against her former team, "It was bittersweet to compete against a coach who taught me so much and a program that helped mold me. It was great to see both our teams battling well against strong competition at the start of the season."
 
NEXT UP: The Falcons will be head home to Montevallo, Ala Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11:00 AM as they take on the University of West Florida Argonauts.
