PENSACOLA, Fla - It was a tale of two halves for the Montevallo Falcons as the hot hand in the first half turned cold in the second and the Falcons lost a Gulf South Conference road game 69-64 to West Florida.
Montevallo, led by Xavier Malcolm and
Ivan Smith held a 41-30 lead at intermission as they shot 55.2% from the field and 40% from 3-point territory.
The Falcons came out for the 2
nd half and pushed their lead to 12 points with 17:48 left in the game. The shooting turned cold as the Falcons shot 32% from the field on 8 for 25 shooting and 25% on 3-points.
Juniors Xavier Malcolm and
Ivan Smith both shot 6 for 13 from the field scoring 15 and 18 points respectfully. Junior
Jonas Parker scored 10 points with 5 rebounds.
With Saturday Delta State and Christian Brothers' losses, Montevallo has clinched the eighth spot in this year's GSC tournament.
