MONTEVALLO, Ala. — Fresh off its three-game sweep of Ohio Valley University last weekend, the University of Montevallo will look to continue its winning ways against Trevecca Nazarene University this weekend.
First pitch of the three-game, two-day series between the two teams is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. CT. The series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 8 with game one slated to start at 12 p.m. CT.
QUICK HITTERS
- The 3-0 start for Montevallo is the best start to a season under head coach Chandler Rose. The previous best mark was a 2-1 record to start the 2018 after the Falcons dropped the first game to Ohio Valley University, then won the final two to take the series.
- Coming off a series with 42 runs scored, Montevallo reaped the benefits as Ben Teel was named Gulf South Conference Co-Player of the Week for his performance. Teel, a sophomore from Homewood, slashed .462/.846/1.313 for the weekend and drove in a career-high five runs batted in during UM's 22-6 win Saturday.
- In his first career collegiate pitching appearance, Grayson Bray tossed five innings of one-run baseball to lift Montevallo to a 4-2 win last Friday. Bray scatted four hits, issued two walks, allowed only one run and struck out seven of the 20 batters faced.
