Lee's career high makes way for Montevallo victory at UWG

CARROLLTON, Ga. -  The University of Montevallo women's basketball picked up another victory Friday against the University West Georgia Wolves, extending its win streak to four games in a row.   

"I was really proud of our defensive effort tonight, we forced 24 turnovers and had 16 steals," remarked head coach Gary Van Atta

The Falcons started the game with an early 6-0 run in the first four minutes of the game.  UWG kept up with Montevallo, closing the quarter with a 15-13 score.  UM pushed the lead in the second quarter, going on an 12-2 run.  Montevallo kept the momentum alive for the duration of the period, ending it with a 41-26 score.

UM did not waver in the second half, pushing the lead to +17 in the third for the second highest margin in the game.  However, West Georgia was not ready to quit as the Wolves managed to cut the lead down to only four points by the end of the third quarter.  Montevallo responded in the fourth quarter pushing its lead to +18 with 1:05 left on the clock, closing out UWG with a final score of 88-71. 

 "I was proud of us weathering their 3rd quarter run. We came back out in the 4th and re-established control. West Georgia never quit. We expect a dogfight tomorrow."

Junior forward Savannah Lee led the Falcons in scoring, notching a career high 27 points on 66% shooting with six rebounds, four assists, one steal, and a block. The Jackson, Tennessee native also shot a perfect six for six from the free throw line. 

Jordan Jones provided another solid performance for the Falcons, adding 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.  Jones has been consistent for UM this year, leading the team in scoring with 77 total points on a 12.8 per game average. 

Kiya Sain (11 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, 3 rebounds) and Marissa Snodgrass (10 points, 4 assists, 4 steals, 2 rebounds) both put double digits in the scoring column for UM. 

The Falcon's also received major contributions from Shyann Flack (6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block), Kourtnie Smith (5 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, block, assist), AK Eastman (5 points, rebound), Tiara McLeod (5 points, 7 rebounds), Elizabeth Hill (3 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists), and Michaella Edwards (3 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds).
