PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Falcons got complete top-to-bottom team effort and contribution in their 92-50 victory over West Florida on Friday night.
On nights when your bench outscores your starters, it usually only means one of two things: 'Things went really, really well tonight', or, 'Things did not go really, really well tonight.'
Tonight, things went really, really well.
Montevallo (2-2) got 53 points from their bench, shot 61 percent from the floor, shot 45 percent from behind the arc, forced 26 turnovers and had 16 steals versus the Argos.
"Our depth was a huge key to the game," said head coach
Gary Van Atta. "It was a complete effort tonight."
Jennifer Andrew (Birmingham, Alabama)Â led the Flacons with 17 points in just 13 minutes. Andrew was 9-of-11 from the free throw line, 4-of-5 from the floor and grabbed four rebounds and three steals.
Jordan Jones (Helena, Alabama)Â added 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 3-of-3 from outside.
Kiya Sain (Jackson, Tennessee)Â added 13 points whileÂ
Elizabeth Hill (Cullman, Alabama)Â andÂ
Michaella Edwards (Birmingham, Alabama)Â scored eight points each.
"I'm really proud of our team tonight," added Van Atta. "All fifteen women played at least eight minutes tonight and we only had one play over twenty minutes. Hopefully that helps us tomorrow afternoon."
Montevallo looks to sweep the two-game series against West Florida (1-2) tomorrow afternoon at 2pm.Â
