MONTGOMERY - It was only four days ago when the Falcons tangled with Auburn-Montgomery at Trustmark Arena. The two teams battled to a four-set conclusion with AUM coming out on top. On Tuesday, Part II was even more intense, this time, going the maximum five sets. Although the Falcons landed some devastating blows, once again, it would be the Warhawks who would be left standing. AUM won the match 3-2. The Falcons fell to 8-11 and 2-5 in the Gulf South Conference, while AUM improved to 12-8 and 4-3.
The Falcons got off to a good start by winning the first set 25-20. But, AUM came back to take the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-22, to push the Falcons to the brink. Unlike the first meeting, UM was determined to stay alive. They fought back to take the fourth set 25-23, setting up a final, deciding sprint to the finish.
In the fifth set, AUM jumped out to an early 3-1 lead. The Falcons would pull within a point, but could never draw even or claim the lead. The last time, a set error had the Falcons trailing 14-13. But, an attack error by
Allie Dishman ended the match, with AUM winning 15-13.
