MONTEVALLO – After a gritty back and forth battle against Shorter, the Montevallo volleyball team fell 3-1 at Trustmark Arena Saturday afternoon. With the loss the Falcons drop to 8-8 with a 2-2 GSC record and Shorter advances to 11-3 with a 4-0 conference record for the season.
The Falcons were aggressive in set one notching a seven-point lead early in the set. However Shorter managed to recover from the early damage, ending the set with a 25-22 score.
Montevallo held poise in the second set, surviving the Shorter attack to take the set 27-25. The Falcons battled resiliently but could not get past the scrappy Shorter unit, dropping the final two sets 23-25 and 22-25
The Falcons were led by
Evelina Teran who put down 11 kills with four blocks. Freshman
Elizabeth Wilzbach was there for the Falcons with 10 kills and a team high six blocks.
Colton Thompson led UM with 34 assists with seven digs and three aces.
Casey Hendrixson led the game in digs with 14 total.
