ROME, Ga. - The Montevallo women's soccer team took a 2-0 win over Shorter, Sunday afternoon on the road. With the win the Falcons are now 6-7-1 with a 3-6-1 record in the GSC and Shorter drops to 2-12 with a 1-9 conference record this season.
The Falcons needed only 18 minutes to organize and find a goal when
Avery Campbell played a ball for
Heather Gomez to score her fifth goal of the season, for an early 1-0 lead. The match would go scoreless until the 27th minute of the second half when
Bailey Raphelt netted her first goal as a Falcon to secure a 2-0 lead over the Hawks.
The Montevallo defense kept Shorter away from the net to end the game with a 2-0 shutout.
The Falcons outshot Shorter 22-3 with 12 on frame shots compared to two from the Hawks. Montevallo also held the edge 7-0 in corner kicks for the match.
Bella Gaudette was in goal for 90 minutes during the shutout, making two saves.
