The Fall/winter crossover is here, ushering in the next chapter of the UM Falcons Sports seasons. The fall portions of the golf and tennis schedules are in the books, while tradition fall seasons, soccer, volleyball and cross country in the stretch runs. Postseason is ahead for some, while others are striving to finish the season on a high note. Meanwhile, swimming has gotten underway and basketball tips off this week. Welcome to the holiday season...Falcons Style!!!
On the soccer pitch, the Falcons men's team is rolling towards the GSC tournament after adding two more wins to the list. The Falcons rolled past Shorter 4-0, then slipped by Catawba 2-1 in a non-conference match. The winning streak of matches without a loss has reached six. That includes five wins and a tie. The Falcons head into the final week of the regular season, sitting in second place with Lee, West Florida and Mississippi College hot on their heals. More importantly, UM (12-2-2 and 7-2-1) is in second place tucked in one point behind first place Auburn-Montgomery. The two teams are on a collision course for the regular season title this week.
The news is not so joyful for the UM women's soccer team. The Falcons came into the week with their postseason hopes on life support. The Falcons would stay alive with a thrilling, hard-earned 2-1 win over Valdosta State in double overtime. However, on Sunday, a heartbreaking 3-2 loss in overtime to West Georgia in the home finale, ended any postseason hopes for UM (7-8-1 and 4-7-1 in GSC).
The Falcon volleyball team has caught fire lately, building a 5-game winning streak. The latest two victories on the home floor over Valdosta State (3-1) and West Georgia (3-1) have rearranged the standings and intensified the fight for a seat at the GSC Tournament table. With five matches remaining, the Falcons (14-12 and 5-6 in the GSC.) are in 6th place with a record.
The Falcon women's golf team closed out the fall finishing 15th out of 18 teams at the Flagler Fall Slam. Meanwhile, the men's team finished fourth at West Georgia's Matt Dyas Invitational.
In the pool, the Falcon swimming teams made their first splash of the season. The UM men finished second overall with 1053 points, while the women placed third with a total of 696.5 points.

Men's Basketball
The Falcons crack the seal on the first game of the season when they head to the Windy City to challenge DePaul in the season opener on Thursday.
Women's Basketball
The Falcons women's basketball team opens the season against two-time defending national champion Lubbock Christian on Friday in the DII Tip-off Classic On Saturday, the Falcons face Tampa, then close out the weekend against Simon-Fraser.
Cross Country
The Falcons head to sunny Florida to compete in the NCAA Division II South Region Championships in St. Leo.
Volleyball
The Falcons have their hands full this week as they will tangle with #7 West Florida on Tuesday in Pensacola. Then, the Falcons face Lee on the road, before returning home to host UAH on Saturday.
Swimming
The Falcons will host Birmingham Southern at the SAC Natatorium on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
Soccer
It's a battle for first place as the Falcons men visit Auburn-Montgomery on Thursday. At stake is the top seed in the Gulf South Conference tournament. Meanwhile, the UM ladies will be closing out the season in the first game of the doubleheader.
