MONTEVALLO - The Montevallo women's basketball team fell 77-68 to the Delta State Lady Statesmen Tuesday afternoon in Trustmark Arena. With the loss the Falcons drop to 4-6 and 1-2 in the conference, with Delta State taking a 6-3 record and
a 4-0 GSC record.
The Falcons came to play in the first quarter, pushing their lead as far as 12 in before ending the period with a 20-11 lead. Delta State bounced back in the second quarter rallying off a
11-0 run to end the half ahead 37-34 over the Falcons.
Montevallo battled but struggled to make shots as the Lady Statesmen pushed their lead as high as 13 before ending the period with a 57-47 lead. The Falcons cut the game as close as five in the fourth but Delta State held UM off to close the game with a nine point victory.
Senior guard
Kiya Sain led the Falcons with 18 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Junior
Jordan Jones added 17 points, two steals, and two rebounds to the Montevallo box score. Senior forward
Tiara McLeod added a major contribution with a season high 11 points, seven rebounds, and a steal.
UP NEXT: The Falcons will be back in Trustmark Arena for a non-conference match up against Cumberland University, with tip-off set for Wednesday, December 15th at 6:00 PM.
