VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Montevallo women's basketball team suffered a 77-68 loss by the Valdosta State Blazers, Saturday afternoon in Valdosta, Georgia. With the loss the Falcons slip to 5-7, and 1-3 in GSC competition with the Blazers improving to 8-2, and 3-1 in conference this season.
The Falcons experienced a 5-0 run to begin the game and led as high as six during the first period. UM held the lead until the final minutes of the quarter as the Blazers managed to take a 14-13 lead into the second period. Montevallo struggled to recover from the deficit as it grew to 42-31 by half time.
Valdosta continued to increase their margin over UM in the third, going up by 20 before the Falcons cut the lead to nine by the end of the quarter.
Montevallo battled in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to two points, but the Blazers held on down the stretch.
Junior guard Marisa Snodgrass led the Falcons with 21 points on a perfect shooting day from the field. The Hazel Green, AL native went 8-for-8, including 5-for-5 from three point range.
Kwajelin Farrar led Valdosta State, putting up a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
UP NEXT: Montevallo will be on the road again for a match up against West Florida. Tip-off is slated for Monday, December 20th at 5:30 PM in Pensacola.
