PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Montevallo women's basketball team lost a heartbreaker on Monday night, falling 80-78 to the West Florida Argonauts. With the loss the Falcons dropped to 5-8 and 1-4 in the Gulf South Conference while West Florida improved to 10-1 and 5-1 in the GSC.
The Falcons led 23-15 after the first period, but West Florida gained the lead midway through the second quarter to take a 44-37 advantage by halftime. The Argonauts increased their lead to 65-55 by the end of the quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Falcons battled back to tie the game at 78-all with 24 seconds left. But, Zoe Piller scored the game-winner for the Argos on a layup with one second left.
Junior guard
Marisa Snodgrass led the Falcons with 18 points, six rebounds, and four assists. She made 7-of-10 fieldgoals in the game, including four 3-pointers.
Jennifer Andrew tallied a season-high 17 points , while
Savannah Lee dropped in 16 points and
Kiya Sain added 14 points and nine rebounds
Piller paced the Argos with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Jaclyn Jarnot finished with 17 points and 20 rebounds and Maddie Griffon added 17 points and eight assists, while Gabby Brown contributed 11 points.
