MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Montevallo men's basketball team took a 83-74 victory over the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks on Wednesday night in Trustmark Arena.
The game started with a quick Travarus Carroll basket to put the Falcons on the board. Â The half was tightly contested between the teams. Â The Warhawks kept a one score lead over Montevallo until
Shannon Woody tied it with a lay up to make the score 18-18. AUM went on to extend their lead to six points right before the under eight media timeout.Â
Montevallo answered with their own string of points but AUM did not waver. The Warhawks regained and kept a lead for the final 4:48 of the half ending the period with a 30-36 score in AUM's favor.
The second half started with a three from AUM's Stanley Davis to secure the largest Warhawk lead of the game up to that point (39-30). Montevallo answered with an astounding 24-6 run of their own, turning the tables back against AUM for a nine point Falcon lead.
The Falcon's would keep the feisty Warhawks contained for the duration of the game as the scoreboard read 83-74 when the clock hit 00:00.
The Falcons were led in scoring by
Xavier Malcom who put up 19 points while going 4-7 from the three. with three rebounds, and a steal.Â
Travarus Carroll also had solid game notching 16 points with five rebounds, five steals, four assists, and a block.Â
Mason Shifflett added twelve of his own points to the Falcon score along with four rebounds, two steals, and an assist. UM would see another double digit scoring performance from
Shannon Woody who had a career high 11 points, with five rebounds, and three assists, and a block.
