CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Montevallo's women's basketball team had their three game winning streak snapped as Lee University held serve at home Friday, February 19. The Falcons had beaten the Flames twice at home earlier in the season, but Lee used a big fourth quarter to pull away for the 73-59 win.

The teams traded runs in the first quarter with neither team leading by more than six. UM took a 20-15 lead on
Marisa Snodgrass' three pointer with 35 seconds to go in the period, but Lee scored 22 seconds later to close the gap.
Jordan Jones hit two of three from beyond the arc to add to Snodgrass' five points.

The Falcons scored the first six points of the second quarter, but Lee returned fire with an 16-4 run to take a 31-30 lead midway through. Lee went 57% from the field in the period and hit four treys to take a 39-36 lead into halftime. Jones added two more baskets for Montevallo with
Kiya Sain doing the same.

The Gulf South rivals went into gridlock during the third quarter as neither team led by more than a bucket until Lee took a 52-47 lead with 2:15 to go. Struggling to hit from the field Montevallo got to the free throw line an incredible 16 times and scoring 11 of their 15 points in the quarter from there and drew within 52-51 going into the fourth quarter.

The Flames were simply too much on both sides of the ball late in the game. They assisted on five of their six baskets and held the Falcons to 15% shooting and just four free throws.
Jordan Jones led UM with 18 points and seven rebounds going 3-6 from long range.
Kourtnie Smith added 11 points and five rebounds.

Montevallo will try to win the season series Saturday, Feb 20 at Lee starting at 2 p.m.
