Box Score NASHVILLE, Tn. – The University of Montevallo earned their first victory of the season on Saturday afternoon 3-0. UM used a pair of first half goals just six minutes apart, and another late in the second half, to move to 1-1 on the season.
Montevallo put four shots on goal before
Kayla Travis found
Kira Bochard who did the rest and gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead 29:19 into the first half. Both the Bochard goal and the Travis assist were their firsts of the season.
At the 35:41 mark, UM struck again.
Romee Contreras assisted on an
Abbie Vingers goal that allowed the Falcons to double the lead. VIngers also netted her first goal of the season this afternoon and Contreras got her first assist of the year.
Montevallo controlled the ball for the remainder of the game before scoring again late in the second half. Both teams tightened up the defense and the score did not change for over 50 minutes.
After assisting on the second UM goal, Contreras scored her first goal of the season with 87:34 on the clock off of Bochard's first assist of the year.
Annie Mason earned the win in goal for the Falcons, saving the only two shots she faced, one in each half.
Montevallo outshot the Trojans 21-5. UM was all around the net today, putting 10 shots on goal.
The Falcons' defense was dominant, allowing just two shots on goal.
