MONTEVALLO, Ala. -
Ben Teel's bases-clearing double in the seventh inning and a dominant bullpen day paved the way for a 3-2 series-clinching win over Christian Brothers University on Sunday afternoon.
Montevallo (9-9, 6-9) got great pitching all day, using
Connor Phelan (Naples, Florida) as their "opener" and four relievers to scatter 10 hits and just one earned run.
Phelan went 2.0 innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits.
Dylan Freeman (Douglasville, Georgia) worked a scoreless third and fourth inning, allowing just two hits.
Grayson Bray (Hartselle, Alabama) got his first win of the season, throwing 2.2 innings. Bray struck out three, gave up just two hits and allowed one earned run.
Chandler Ingram (Huntsville, Ala.) recorded the last seven outs of the ballgame for this third save of the season.
The Falcons trailed 2-0 in the top of the seventh inning and scored all three of their runs with two outs in the inning. After
Riley Cain (Steele, Missouri) reached first on a fielder's choice, Cain stole second to start the two-out rally.
Khalid Collymore (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) then singled to left field, giving UM runners on first and third.
Asa Awbrey (Carrollton, Georgia) then drew a walk to load the bases and Teel unloaded the bases with his three-RBI double to right-center. Teel's double was his eighth of the season, which leads the team.
