CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Montevallo Falcons fell 1-0 to the GSC first-place Lee Flames in game one of the weekend series on Friday night in Cleveland, Tennessee.

.The Falcons pitching staff was strong all night, allowing just one run on four hits and striking out eight.
Connor Phelan (Naples, Florida) worked as the Falcons "opener" and got the Falcons off to a good start with two hitless, scoreless innings.
Tanner Stinnett (Bessemer, Alabama), Kuster Kinlecheenie (Winslow, Ari.) and
Ryan Duncan (Bradenton, Florida) combined to throw a scoreless third, fourth and fifth inning, carrying a scoreless game into the sixth inning.
The Flames (15-2, 14-1) broke the 0-0 tie in the sixth inning, scoring their lone run on a strikeout-wild pitch.
Montevallo's (9-10, 6-10) best chance to score came in the top of the eight. Designated hitter
Alex Langford (Millington, Tennessee) singled to centerfield with one out and shortstop
Reed Latimer (Scottsboro, Alabama) followed up with a single through the right side. Pinch runner
Ryan Curran (Albuquerque, NM) advanced to third on the single and Latimer advanced to second on the throw, giving the Falcons runners on second and third with one out. However the UM rally stopped there with the next two Falcons going down in order.
The Falcons and Flames will conclude their series with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, first pitch 12pm.
