WILSON, N.C. - The Montevallo men's lacrosse team took care of business in North Carolina Friday afternoon with a 16-13 win against Barton.
UM started the game with aggression on offense scoring the first three goals of the game. Barton answered with their own goal midway through the first quarter and followed with three more in a row, to tie the score 3-3.Â
Ryan Shea's buzzer beater goal at the end of the quarter gave the Falcon's a 4-3 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Â
The second quarter was closely contested as both teams scored four goals each. Montevallo took control of the game in the third outscoring the Bulldogs 6-2 to take a 14-9 lead into the final period. Barton battled in the fourth but Montevallo's fate was sealed by the hands of
Ryan Shea and
Thomas Vaesen who scored the final two UM goals, making way for the 16-13 win.
Connor Frederick led UM in goal scoring with five total goals with two assists, followed by
Thomas Vaesen who notched four goals with five assists.Â
Trevayne Hunter (two goals),
Ryan Shea (two goals), Jackson Nuefeld (goal), Chaiton WIlliams (goal), and
Kordell Primus (goal) all made contributions to the Falcons score at Truist Stadium.Â
Brendan Miklos led Montevallo defensively with six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
UP NEXT: The Falcons will travel to Rome, Georgia for a Peach Belt Conference match up against Shorter on Friday, March 19th. First face-off is set for 5:00 PM.
