ROME, Ga. - The Falcons took their third victory in a row Saturday in Rome, after a dominant 15-6 win over Shorter. With the win Montevallo advances to 4-4 on the season as Shorter fell to 2-5.
Montevallo had a slow start in the first quarter with Shorter taking a 2-0 advantage early in the game over the Falcons. UM answered with five straight goals to round out the first quarter with a 5-2 advantage.
The second quarter was owned by UM as the squad went on a 4-0 scoring streak during the period, making a comfortable 9-2 lead going into the halftime break.
The Falcons kept the Hawks at bay in the second half outscoring them 6-3 for the rest of the game. Montevallo left the field with a 15-6 win over Shorter when the clock hit 00:00.
Montevallo outshot the Hawks 43-32 for the game. The Falcons were led by
Thomas Vaesen who netted five goals on 14 shots with two groundballs.
Trevayne Hunter added four goals of his own along with a groundball and a caused turnover.
Ryan Shea, Jackson Nuefeld, and
Connor Frederick all added two goals each to help bolster the Falcons to victory. In goal,
Kyle Little made six saves along with
Jacob Bodino who came in and secured two of his own saves.
