HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Montevallo mens lacrosse team took a 15-9 victory over in-state PBC opponent UAH, Saturday afternoon in Huntsville. With the win the Falcons are now 5-4 with a 2-0 conference record and the Chargers drop to 2-6 with an 0-2 conference record.
"Today our team gave a great effort. It was a team win," remarked head coach
Jason Lange. "Our defense was able to get timely stops and our offense was able to score in bunches. I'm extremely proud of the effort and energy our guys played with today."
The Falcons were the first to score but UAH answered with two Luke LeVette scores to take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Charger score streak spilled over into the second quarter, notching two more goals for a 4-1 score in favor of UAH in the beginning minutes of the period. UM responded with six straight goals making way for a 7-4 Falcon lead at the half.
Montevallo netted the first two goals of the second half but UAH did not let up, as they responded with a pair of their own goals to make the score 9-6 with 11:15 left in the third. The Falcons finished strong in the quarter with four straight goals making a 13-6 lead going into the fourth. The Chargers worked hard to make a substantial comeback in the final period but the Falcons persevered to take the game 15-9 over the in-state rival.
Thomas Vaesen was the Falcons leading goal scorer notching four goals with two assists, a ground ball, and a caused turnover.
Trevayne Hunter added three goals to go with three assists. UM also received meaningful contributions from
