10-0: Falcon volleyball remains undefeated on the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Montevallo volleyball unit took a short trip down Interstate 65 to AUM for a neutral site match up against both Shorter and Lee, on Saturday in Montgomery.  The Falcons won 3-1 in four sets over Shorter and swept Lee 3-0 in game two.  

In game one, Montevallo suffered a slow start against the Hawks after dropping set one 24-26.  The Falcons took the remaining three sets (25-13, 25-22, 25-23) to take the win over Shorter.  

Evelina Teran put down a game high 19 kills setting a milestone with 1000 kills for her career, with 12 digs and two blocks.  Amanda Nugent was dominant on the attack for UM adding 17 of her own kills to the Falcon victory along with two aces.  Morgan Hoffman played big for Montevallo, adding eight kills to the stat sheet with four blocks. 

Freshman Casey Hendrixson was superb on defense, leading the Falcons with 15 digs to go with eight assists and two aces.  Montevallo's setters provided major contibutions to the offense as Isabelle Fuell had 26 assists on the day as well as Savannah Roys who had 25.

In game two the Falcons completed a three set sweep over Lee (25-17, 25-17, 25-18) taking their tenth straight victory of the season.

Teran (11 digs, 2 aces, 2 blocks) and Nugent (3 aces, 2 blocks) tied for a game high eight kills, and freshman Macy Martin added seven kills of her own. 

Savannah Roys led the Falcons with 17 assists and 10 digs along with Isabelle Fuell who contributed 16 assists.  Casey Hendrixson completed a game high 13 digs during the three set sweep.

UP NEXT: The Falcons will start the opening rounds of the GSC Spring Championship Series Tournament on Friday, March 26th through Saturday, March 27th.
