MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The UM volleyball team swept the Shorter University Hawks 3-0 in Trustmark Arena, Saturday afternoon, allowing the Falcons to advance to the semi final round of the GSC Spring Championship Series Tournament.  With the win the Falcons advance to 11-0 on the season and the Hawks fall to 2-9 marking the conclusion of their season.

Montevallo set the tone early by taking the first set 25-16 over Shorter.  The Hawks would not back down from the hard hitting Falcons as they took the lead 20-18 towards the end of the set, after falling behind by eight. 

UM endured the feisty comeback to edge Shorter 27-25 in the second set.  Montevallo regrouped and put together the best set of the game, winning 25-13 in the third.

The Falcons held the advantage in multiple statistical categories including points (57.0-34.0), kills (43-28), aces (6-3), blocks (8-3), assists (38-23), and digs (57-47).

Evelina Teran was the game leader in kills putting down 20 along with 11 digs, an ace, and a block.  Amanda Nugent added nine kills with a team high three service aces, three digs, and a block. 

Savannah Roys led the setting unit with 20 assists along with nine digs, and three kills.  Casey Hendrixson tied Teran for the team high in digs with 11, including four assists and a service ace.
