Falcons tough play not enough in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - In a very competitive battle between two of the top teams in the state, the Falcon's dropped a 1-0 match on the road Thursday evening in Tuscaloosa.

With the loss the Falcon's dropped to 3-1, overall while the Crimson Tide improved to 5-5-2.

In the first half the Falcon's had a tough time maintaining possession against the Tide but held strong on defense in the initial minutes.  UA's lone goal was scored by Reyna Reyes.  Montevallo was out shot five to three by Alabama in the half.

The Falcon's upped the ante in the second half, matching the Crimson Tide with six shots each.

UM was led in offense by Romee Contreras who put up four shots, followed by Samara Lino who added three with one on target.  Allye Darnell added an attempt at the Crimson Tide net as well as Tori Ochoa who had an on goal shot.

Angel Hailey was in the net for the UM loss, making two big time saves against the offensive minded Tide but gave up one goal.

Montevallo's resilient play against an SEC opponent was one to learn from as the Falcons displayed grit and toughness on the pitch all 90 minutes.

UP NEXT: The Falcon's will head to Carrollton, Ga. for a GSC match up against West Georgia.  Kick off is set for Sunday, March 7th at 2:00 PM CT.
