MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Montevallo men's lacrosse team took a dominant 22-6 victory over the Shorter University Hawks notching head coach
Jason Lange's 50th win of his coaching career. The Falcons are now 7-4 on the season with a 4-0 Peach Belt Conference record. With the loss the Hawks drop to 2-8 on the season with a 0-4 conference record.
The competition was stiff in the initial minutes of the first quarter as both teams traded scores for a 4-4 tie at the end of period one. Montevallo took off on the Hawks in the second quarter, scoring nine goals along with a Shorter scoring shutout by the Falcon defense.
UM's big second quarter gave the squad a comfortable 13-4 lead at the half time break. The Falcons did not take their foot off the gas pedal in the second half, outscoring the Hawks 9-4 to secure the 22-8 win.
The Falcons were led in productivity by
Ryan Shea who netted four goals with four assists and a groud ball. Montevallo saw multiple scores from
Thomas Vaesen (4 G, 2 A, GB),
Kordell Primus (4 G, A, GB), and
Trevayne Hunter (3 G, 2 A, GB). Brennan Griffin, Jackson Klewchuck, and
Coleman Hargis all added two goals a piece as well as
Jackson Neufeld who put in one of UM's 22 goals.
