Falcons edge UAH 13-11 during in-state PBC battle, clinch regular season title

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Montevallo men's lacrosse team extended its win streak to seven after notching a 13-11 victory over UAH at the Lacrosse Stadium, Saturday night.  With the win the Falcons clinch the PBC Regular Season Championship, advancing to 8-4 on the season with a 5-0 conference record and are set to host a PBC Semifinal game on Wednesday, April 28th.

Montevallo's men's lacrosse unit came to the Lacrosse Stadium with one goal in mind, beating UAH for the second time in a year.  UM was determined but UAH made it tough for the Falcons as they took the lead 4-3 by the end of the first quarter.  The Chargers experienced the lead for the majority of the first half until a Trevayne Hunter goal followed by a save from Kyle Little secured the 7-7 tie at the halftime break.

A goal from Jackson Neufeld gave the Falcons their first lead of the game followed by two straight UM goals to make a 10-7 lead.  The Falcons started the fourth quarter ahead 11-9, and put the first goal of the period in the net to go up three scores (12-9).  UAH worked hard to impede on the Falcon lead cutting it down to two points but UM survived the Chargers 13-11 to secure the team's seventh straight victory.

The Falcons were led by Connor Frederick who netted three goals with three ground balls.  Gabe Sucevic (2 G, 3 GB, CT), Trevayne Hunter (2 G, A), Jackson Neufeld (2 G, 2 A, 2 GB, 2 CT), Thomas Vaesen (2 G, 2 GB) who added two goals each.  The Falcons also got contributions from Chaiton Williams (G, CT, GB) and Ryan Shea who added a goal a piece.

UP NEXT: The Falcons will take on the Lander University Bearcats in the final game of the regular season.  First faceoff is set for Saturday, April 24 at 1:00 pm at the Montevallo Lacrosse Stadium.
