Falcons slide past Hawks 20-4 in PBC semifinals

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Montevallo men's lacrosse unit wrapped up the 2021 PBC Semifinals in dominant fashion, taking a 20-4 win over Shorter at Varsity Field.  With the win the Falcons advance to 9-4 with an unscathed 6-0 PBC record, while tallying another W to the team's eight game win streak.  With the loss the Hawks will end their season with a 2-10 record overall and a 0-5 conference record.

The Falcons did not let the venue change throw them off in Wednesday's semifinal match up as they were able to net the first five goals of the game before Shorter put in a goal.   Montevallo outscored Shorter by 10 in the half, holding the Hawks to two goals while scoring 12 goals to give the Falcons a small cushion by halftime.  Montevallo kept their claws on the gas petal in the second half, outscoring Shorter 8-2 during the third and fourth quarter.

Thomas Vaesen was a major contributor for the Falcons netting five goals with an assist and a turnover.  Brennan Griffin was highly productive for UM netting three goals with an 100% shooting percentage.  The Falcons were led defensively by Anthony Pecoraro who picked up four ground balls with two caused turnovers, and Jordan Walsh who added four ground balls.

UP NEXT: The Falcons will face the University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers in the PBC Tournament Championship set for Saturday May 1st at 3:00 PM
