MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Montevallo's tennis teams hosted AU-Montgomery in a GSC match Wednesday, April 7, but unfortunately took the loss in both the men's and women's matches. The women dropped to 3-9 on the season and 1-5 in the Gulf South while the men are now 3-8 and 2-3 in conference.
The Lady Falcons took 2-1 losses in the doubles matches and 6-1 in the singles matches.
Eva Dirr and
Cyba Ozzor took the lone doubles win for the ladies with their 6-3 win in the second match of the day.
Dirr won the lone singles victory for UM as well, dominating her match with a 6-0 decision.
Mireia Turro was nearly able to win her game after tying the match with a narrow 7-6 win, but lost a close third set 7-5.
The men's team went 1-2 in their doubles matches as well with David Rieme and Joao Guariente nearly sweeping their opponents 6-1 for the Falcons only win in the category.
UM lost 5-2 in their singles matches with
Gavin Salton winning his contest in three sets: 6-2, 2-6, 10-4.
Tanguy David won the other match for Montevallo with an entertaining three set performance 6-2, 2-6, 12-10.
Philippe Zehender forced a third set for the Falcons but, ultimately, took the loss 4-6, 7-6, 6-1.
The men's team currently sits in sixth place in the Gulf South while the ladies drop to ninth in the conference standings.
