MONTEVALLO, Ala. - After a successful 2020-21 season the Montevallo swim program is excited to announce the addition of 10 new athletes to the program.
"Excited to welcome in the 2021 freshman class to the family," stated head coach
Aaron Mahaney. "I look forward to working with this group to continue to build the tradition that is Montevallo Swimming."
The Falcons are bringing in one addition to the men's team and nine additions to the women's unit. This now sets the men's roster to 21 and the women's roster to 21 swimmers for the upcoming year.
2021 SIGNING CLASS
Beth Balent: Fly and Individual Medley
About: Beth swims for Coast aquatics in Fort Walton Beach and was a two time medalist for her division of Florida swimming while also being a part of the National Honor Society at school.
She will be pursuing a degree in exercise and nutrition science.
Fun Fact: Never vacations in the same area and likes to sew.
Cypris Wilkinson: Sprinter
About: Cypris attended Barbe High School and swam for the Spartan Swimming club. She was a four year all-district swimmer, two time southern zone qualifier, and finished top five in her respective events. Her senior year she was a part of a relay that won a state title in Louisiana. She will be pursuing a degree in mass communications.
Favorite Memory: Winning a state title in the 200 free relay after having to temporarily change schools because of two hurricanes.
Emily Sauer: Distance Freestyle
About: Emily attended school at the Logos Prep Academy and swam for First Colony Swim Club. She was a member of the National Honor Society and received Academic All-State honors. She was also the state champion for her division of Texas in the 500 freestyle and plans to pursue a degree in biology at Montevallo.
Fun Fact: Knows ASL
Isabel Harris: Sprinter
About: Isabel is from Pace, Florida and swam for the Greater Pensacola Aquatics Club and for the local Pace High School team as well. She was nominated her senior year to be a captain and was a nominee for the Pensacola Senior Scholar Athlete in women's swimming. She was a part of the relay that broke the school record in the medley relay and plans on pursuing a degree in deaf studies.
Fun Fact: If there was a movie written about her she says it would be a sci-fi comedy where disaster seems to strike at the worst times while hilarity ensues.
Jaedyn Davies: Sprinter
About: Jayden attended Buchanan High School and is the daughter of Elizabeth and Jeff Davis with one brother, Jace Davis. She was voted the Most Outstanding Performer of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year at her school. She plans on pursuing a degree in exercise and nutrition science.
Fun Fact: She loves to go to the beach.
Mallory Cook: Fly and Freestyle
About: Mallory is from Rydal, Georgia and went to school and swam at Adairsville High School while also swimming for the North West Georgia Nitros for club. She was a two time team captain and a member of her schools BETA club for four year. She plans on pursuing a degree in psychology.
Fun Fact: She likes taking her dogs on hikes and going to the lake.
Olivia Vickers: Sprinter
About: Olivia is from Hazel Green, Alabama and went to school and swam at Hazel Green High School where she was a part of the National Honor Society. She also swam for the Huntsville Swim Association. She was the first ever female to make the state meet, in Hazel Green high School history. She will be pursuing a degree in political science.
Fun Fact: She is an avid baker.
Vanessa Smith: Sprinter
About: Vanessa is from Daphne, Alabama and went to school at St. Michael Catholic High School. She swam in the SWAT and was voted Most Team Spirit Award. She is the daughter of Adrienne and Dale Smith with two sisters, Erin and Aileena Smith. She plans on pursuing a degree in psychology.
Fun Fact: She likes to paint and read in her free time.
Elysia Addison: Breaststroke and Freestyle
About: Elysia is from Middleburg, Florida and went to Clay High School where she was in the top 10% of her class and holds the school record in the 100 breast. She swam for Planet Swim and was a Senior Championship Finalist. She plans on pursuing a degree in biology with a minor in marine biology.
Fun Fact: She is really into botany.
Nicolas Ioannides: Distance Freestyle
About: Nicolas is from Nicosia, Cyprus and went to the Pascal Greek School where he was named the Best Male Athlete. He also swam for Apoel Swimming where he was named the Best Club Swimmer. Prior to Montevallo Ioannides attended Barton Community College in Wilson, North Carolina. He chose Montevallo because of his friends who came here and because he wants to further his education by pursuing a degree in exercise and nutrition science.
