Falcons silence Young Harris 3-0 on the road

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - Montevallo scored three goals in the second half in a 3-0 win over Young Harris on Friday night at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.  With the win the Falcons succeed to a 1-1-0 record with Young Harris notching a 2-1-0 record for the season.

"I was really proud of the teams response tonight," said head coach Jake Wyman.  "They put together another gritty performance against a quality Young Harris team. Thought we created a few opportunities in the first half, but didn't put them away. Think the girls did well with their chances in the 2nd half including a worldie from Chimo [Zariah Nogales]."

During the first half defense was strict from both sides with both teams absent from the scoreboard during the period.  After each team traded chances through the first 57 minutes of the game, junior forward Zariah Nogales netted the Falcons first goal of the season in the top left corner of the Mountain Lion goal.

Seven minutes later Nogales was there again for the Falcons to put in a goal, giving UM a small 2-0 cushion with 25 minutes left in the game.  Montevallo capped off the game with a third goal after Kacey Alejandre found the net on a Heather Gomez cross.

The Falcons held the edge in on goal shots with 11 compared to Young Harris's nine SOG's.

UP NEXT:  Montevallo will finalize its weekend tour of Georgia with a trip to Morrow for a match up against Clayton State.  Kick off is set for Sunday September 12th, starting at 12:00 PM.
