MILLEGEVILLE, GA - "It was a long weekend," said Montevallo head coach
Katie O'Brien after the Falcons lost a pair of matches on the final day of the Bobcat Classic. The Falcons dropped a 3-1 decision against USC-Aiken, then were turned away by Augusta College by the same score. The Falcons fell to 6-6 with the losses.
In the match against USC-Aiken,
Evelina Teran had 13 kills and 10 digs to lead UM.
Colton Thompson added 35 assists and
Casey Hendrixson tallied 20 digs, while
Kamble Frenette contributed 15 digs. Thompson also had 30 assist in the loss to Augusta. Hendrixson added 24 digs to her day's total, while
Macy Martin led the team in kills with 10.
With the Gulf South Conference slate opening up next week, coach O'Brien knows it's time to honker down. "We need to prepare to start conference by working hard and smart in practice this week," she said. "I think our best volleyball matches are still ahead of us."
The Falcons have three consecutive GSC matches on the road to start off the conference schedule. It begins with a visit to Mississippi College on Friday, Sept. 24.
