CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Montevallo men's basketball faced a 89-65 setback against Lee University, Saturday afternoon in Cleveland. With the loss the Falcons fall to 8-10 overall for the year with a 6-4 record in conference and the Flames advance to 10-5 and 6-3 against GSC opponents for the year.
Junior guard
Braxton Bertolette led the Falcons in production with 17 points, three rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Lee's Quay Kennedy bolstered the Flames with 17 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, a steal, and an assist.
The match was neck and neck during the initial stages of the first half as the lead stayed within five points for the first 13 minutes of the game. The Falcons began to lose control of the scoring gap after Lee set off 12-4 run to give themselves a 41-28 lead with 2:12 left in the period. The scoreboard read 45-31 in favor of the Flames at the halftime break.
The Falcons struggled to bounce back in the second half as Lee continued to add to the cushion from the first half. Montevallo didn't give up but could not outlast the Flames during the period resulting in the 24 point loss.
UP NEXT: The Falcons will return to Trustmark Arena for an in-state battle against West Alabama. Tip-off is set for Wednesday at 7:30 pm at Montevallo.
