CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Lee University Flames outscored the Montevallo women's basketball team 22-9 in the third quarter to blow open a close game en route to a 77-59 win on Saturday afternoon at Paul Dana Walker Arena. The loss dropped the Falcons to 7-11 and 3-7 in the Gulf South Conference, while Lee improved to 12-3 and 5-2 in the GSC.
Savannah Lee led UM with 16 points and five rebounds, while
Marisa Snodgrass added 13 points and six boards.
McCarley Northway also scored in double-figures, finishing with 11 points.
Haley Schubert lead Lee with a game-high 29 points.
The Falcons struggled from the field, shooting only 24% (15-for-61) for the game. In the second and third quarters, UM shot a combined 4-of-30 from the field. Despite that, the Falcons were in the game at halftime, trailing by a point, 29-28. But, after the Flames burned the Falcons in the third quarter, taking advantage of the offense struggles to pull away.
Next Up: The Falcons return home to face West Alabama on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at Trustmark Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
