MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Montevallo women's basketball team picked up their first GSC win of the new year taking Christian Brothers 83-81, Saturday afternoon on the road.  With the win the Falcons advance to 7-9 overall for the year and 3-5 in conference, while the Buccaneers fall to 4-10 and 3-5 in the GSC.  

Senior forward Savannah Lee played a crucial role in the victory for UM, putting up 19 points with nine rebounds, and an assist. 

Emily Jones led the Buccaneers with 26 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  

The Falcons came to play against CBU, kicking off a 12-0 run in the first four minutes of the game.  The Buccaneers regained momentum in the second quarter, taking the lead 34-33 with 4:42 left in the half.  The Falcons held on for a 43-39 lead at the halftime break. 

Both teams traded baskets during the third quarter, until Montevallo took control for a 10 point lead with 3:30 left in the period.  CBU cut the UM lead as close to two points before the end of the quarter but the Falcons held the edge by six points going into the fourth quarter.  

The Buccaneers were on the Falcons heels the entire fourth quarter but the squad battled to hold the lead for a 83-81 win.
