HOOVER, Ala. – On the final day of the Gulf South Conference and Sunshine State Conference Crossover Tournament the Montevallo Volleyball team dropped a pair of matches.
In the first match of the day the Flacons pushed Florida Southern to the brink in a back-and-forth affair that featured 16 ties and six lead changes throughout. The Falcons took a win in the fourth 25-19 to force a tie-breaking fifth. In the fifth set alone, there were six ties and four lead changes. The Falcons fell behind 13-9 late in the set but a 5-0 run, capped with an
Aliyah Thompson kill, gave UM a 14-13 advantage. A service-ace for Florida Southern capped a 3-0 run as the Falcons dropped the final set, 16-14 and the match, 3-2.
For the final match of the tournament the Falcons squared off with 14-3 Lynn. The Fighting Knights were off and running in the first set, winning 25-14 following 17 kills, just two errors, and an 86 percent side-out percentage. In the second set, Montevallo pushed closer to Lynn and forced a match-high seven attack errors, but it wasn't enough as the Fighting Knights won, 25-18. In the final set Montevallo posted its highest percentage of the match, hitting .216 with 12 kills and four errors, but Lynn managed 15 kills to put UM away, 25-21.
With a pair of losses, the Falcons moved to 15-8 on the year and will return to GSC play next week, currently in second place with an 8-2 overall record.

- UM dropped its third five-set match of the season and is 5-3 overall in five-setter's.
- Montevallo held Florida Southern to a .091 hit percentage and hit .120 themselves.
- The Falcons held a massive advantage, 65-39 in kills but it wasn't enough as the Mocs had 16 total blocks.
- Aces proved to be a big advantage for Florida Southern as the squad edged Montevallo 12-4.
- The Mocs' Madison Fowler led all players with eight blocks in the match. Three of Montevallo's six total blocks involved both Allie Dishman and Morgan Hoffman.
- Colton Thompson's season-high 28 assists led the Falcons. Fifth year setter Sav Roys added 23.
- Casey Hendrixson's 28 digs led all players as Macy Martin and Megan Schram added 19 and 12, respectively, for the Falcons.
- Macy Martin led all players in kills with 15. Aliyah Thompson hit .290 with 12 kills.

- UM dropped was swept for just the fourth time this season.
