VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Montevallo women's soccer team moved to 12-2-2 after grabbing a road win at Valdosta State, 2-0, on Friday night.
The Falcons offense struggled in the first half until senior midfielder
Kaeri Ward broke a 0-0 tie in the 20th minute with a goal off a pass from
Avery Campbell. The Falcons were out-shot 9-5 by the Blazers in the first half but the UM backline held strong with
Emily Hounsell recording five first-half saves.
The second half of the conference matchup featured three saves from Hounsell to hold off Valdosta State's three shots on goal. The Falcons' junior goalkeeper recorded her fifth shutout of the season with a total of eight saves in her 90 minutes of action.
Montevallo's 8-2-2 GSC record and 26 points are third in the conference behind West Florida (31) and Mississippi College (30) as the Falcons head into the final match of the regular season against West Georgia on Sunday, Oct. 23.
