Falcons Clinch Fourth Seed After a 1-1 Tie at West Georgia

CAROLLTON, Ga. – The Montevallo women's soccer team forced a 1-1 draw on the road at West Georgia in the final regular season contest of the 2022 season.
 
The Falcons' defense held to just nine shots with four shots on goal while holding a 0-0 tie until the 68th minute when UWG's Catherine Reeves gave the Wolves a 1-0 lead. Kaeri Ward delivered the tying goal in the 89th minute after a late red card by West Georgia.
 
Junior goalkeeper Emily Hounsell played all 90 minutes of the contest allowing just one goal with three saves for the match. Freshman forward Angelina Rivas lead the Falcons with four total shots while Melanie Stevens and Rivas each had a pair of shots on goal.
 
The tie with West Georgia clinched a home-playoff berth with Montevallo set to host Lee on Sunday, Oct. 30 in the Gulf South Conference Tournament. The Falcons end the regular season with an overall record of 12-2-3 with an 8-2-3 conference record for a total of 27 conference points.
