Rocket League Falls at PBC Championship

FLORENCE, S.C. - This past week, Montevallo Esports traveled to Florence, South Carolina, to compete in the Rocket League Championships. This journey started all the way back in August with the team competing against 8 other teams for a shot at being able to play this past weekend. After a promising start to the season the team struggled and inevitably finished their first ever competitive season 4-4. Two months later and a trek across 2 states, the Falcons would find themselves as the #6 seed entering playoffs and would face off against the #3 seeded Lander University in their first round of the tournament. Montevallo would lose the best of 5 series after 3 single score games turned out not in their favor. Being a double elimination tournament, the Falcons still had a shot in the lower bracket of the tournament. They would play the winner of #2 seed Kennesaw State and #7 seed USC Aiken. In a surprising upset, #7 Aiken would send #2 Kennesaw into the lower bracket. Montevallo would fail to beat the 6-2 Owls and would see themselves exiting the tournament after the first day. Even though they had to face two of the best teams in the tournament the team learned some valuable knowledge for future seasons.
