Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's basketball team opened the season with an exhibition win over Southeastern Baptist, 72-21.
The Falcons jumped out to an early lead and continued the hot start through the first quarter to take a 20-5 lead after the first ten minutes. Montevallo did not give up a single field goal in the first quarter while shooting 38.9 percent from the field.
At the half, Montevallo led 44-10 with six offensive rebounds in the second quarter. The Falcons dominated the paint in the first half with 28 points while adding a pair of three-pointers.
The third quarter saw Montevallo shoot 38.5 percent with 12 points on 5-13 shooting. The Falcons added five offensive boards in the quarter with 10 second chance points. UM ended the quarter with a 56-19 lead going into the final stanza.
The fourth quarter was much of the same for Montevallo. The Falcons out-scored the Chargers 16-2 with a 58.3 percent shooting mark and 40 percent mark from behind the arc. UM took control of the glass with nine rebounds to SBC's five.
Miriam Oldacre was the Falcons top-scorer with 12 points on 5-7 shooting with a pair of three-pointers.
Shyan Flack was dominant on the glass with seven rebounds to go along with her four points while
Leisha Steger pulled down five offensive rebounds.
The Falcons will be back in action on Nov. 1 when the team travels to Jacksonville, Ala. to take on Jacksonville State in the final exhibition before the regular season begins.
