SEWANEE, Tenn. – The University of Montevallo men's and women's swimming teams each finished second at the Sewanee Invitational, Saturday.
Both squads entered the final day of the event in third and each earned second play finish following Saturday' performances. The men finished in second with 796 points and the women were second with 728.5.
The men's team featured seven individual podium finishes on the second day of the event. Freshman Aleksei Kolesnikov paced the Falcons with a pair of first place finishes. Kolesnikov won the Men's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.02 and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.81.
Jacob Rubin earned a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.26.
For the women, there were 10 podium finishes.
Lexi Cardwell one of two first place finishes for the women's team as the senior posted a time of 25.77 in the 50-yard freestyle. She also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.75. Freshman Tahlia Micallef finished first in the 200-yard free at 1:59.43. She added a third-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.42.

The Falcons will host Birmingham Southern on Saturday, Nov. 5 at home in the SAC Natatorium at 10 a.m.
