MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's soccer team recorded their first draw of the season, 1-1, against Alabama-Huntsville, Friday, at Varsity Field.
Just over eight minutes into the contest, graduate senior
Espy Sanchez fired a ball in the back-of-the-net to give Montevallo an early, 1-0, lead. Two minutes into the second half, UAH scored an equalizer.
After each side was held scoreless over the final 43 minutes, the Falcons ended in a tie for the first tie this season and the first time since a 0-0 tie to West Alabama on Oct. 17, 2021.
There were 30 total shots in the match and a combined 13 on goal, but the keepers shined with 11 total saves. UAH's Adriana Wright totaled seven saves while
Emily Hounsell added four for the Falcons.
HOW IT HAPPENED
8' | Sanchez scored her fourth goal of the year to put Montevallo ahead 1-0.
47' | UAH evened the match 1-1 as Carmen Endicott scored off an assist from Mera Torres.
89'| Hounsell made a late save to hold the 1-1 tie.

- Montevallo out-shot the Chargers 19-11 and 8-5 on goal.
- There were just five corners drawn in the match, three for UAH and two for Montevallo.
