Falcons Drop Conference Contest to West Alabama, 57-68

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's basketball team dropped the conference home-opener to West Alabama, 68-57, on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons fell behind early after an 11-point run by the Tigers midway through the first quarter to put West Alabama ahead 19-10 after the first ten minutes. A seven-point second quarter performance from Michaella Edwards sparked Montevallo's offense but a nine-point run by UWA stretched the Tigers lead to 14 at the halftime break. The Falcons battled back in the third quarter to cut the lead to three after Katie Moore made a pair of free throws with 5:21 left in the quarter. West Alabama closed quarter number three on an 11-3 run to go up 68-57 heading into the final stanza. Anna Katherine Eastman led the Falcons with six points in a back-and-forth fourth quarter. In the end, West Alabama's 28 points in the paint proved too much for Montevallo to handle.

Jordan Parker was the top rebounder for Montevallo with six boards in her 13 minutes of action.
