MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo women's basketball team fell to conference-foe Delta State, 76-63, in the final game of a two-game homestand for the Falcons.
Montevallo fell behind quickly after a poor start shooting the ball but was able to battle back with the help of six points from
McCarley Northway. Delta State could not miss from deep, going 5-for-7, to open up a 23-14 lead after the first ten minutes. A dismal shooting performance from Montevallo in the second quarter gave DSU a 41-24 lead heading into the locker room. The Falcons were able to find some offense in the second half outscoring the Lady Statesmen 20-18 in the third quarter. In the final stanza, Montevallo shot 5-for-17 from the field and just 2-of-9 from three leading to Delta State's 76-63 victory.
Marissa Snodgrass was the story of the game for Montevallo, scoring a game-high 19 points on 5-for-16 shooting with three rebounds, six assists, and five steals.
Miriam Oldacre and
Leisha Steger each grabbed four rebounds to lead the Falcons on the glass.

st | Montevallo's offense got out to a slow start going just 5-for-15 from the field while Delta State shot 9-of-14 in the first quarter.

nd | The Falcons' shooting struggles continued in the second quarter with a 15.4 percent mark from the field, while the Lady Statesmen shot 6-for-12 in the quarter.

rd | UM's offense picked up in the second half with the help of sharp free throw shooting as the Falcons went 10-for-11 at the line to take the quarter, 20-18.

th | Montevallo's defense was able to slow DSU's offense in the fourth quarter forcing a 26.7 percent shooting clip but the offense went just 5-for-17 in the final ten minutes.
GAME NOTES
- Montevallo forced 25 turnovers in the contest with the Falcons scoring 27 points off Delta State giveaways.
- Montevallo was outrebounded 43-28 with DSU outscoring UM 12-4 on second chance points.
- Delta State's paint presence was too much for Montevallo to handle with the Lady Statesmen scoring 32 points to UM 18.
