Falcons end the Saturday DH with two wins over UMSL Tritons

MONTEVALLO - The Montevallo baseball team added a pair of W's to the win column, taking a 5-2 win in game one, and a 7-1 win in the second game of the Saturday afternoon double header.  With the win's the Falcons are remain undefeated at 6-0 for the year, while the Tritons slip to 0-3 for the year.  

The Falcons rode five solid innings from JJ Pease in game one, earning his second win of the season.  The freshman RHP allowed no unearned runs on three hits with six strikeouts in five innings of service.  

The Falcons were led offensively by a 3-for-3 performance from Jake Smallwood, who also added three RBI's and a homerun. 

The Falcons scratched two runs  in the bottom of the fourth inning after Riley Cain singled to right field bringing two runs home. Missouri-St.Louis scored an unearned run in the sixth inning to get on the scoreboard to make the game 2-1.  

Jake Smallwood hit a key homerun for the Falcons in the sixth, bringing in three runs to increase the edge 5-1.  The Tritons found a home run in the eigth inning but the Falcons held on for the 5-2 win.

In game two, the Falcons scored five runs in the first two innings, cruising towards the 7-1 victory.  Khalid Collymore went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI's to give Montevallo the final two runs of the game.  Junior infielder Ben Teel went 2-for-2, with a home run and four RBI's. 

UP NEXT: The will play the final game of the weekend series against Missouri-St.Louis, on Sunday, February 13th at 12:00 pm in Bob Reisner Stadium.
