MOBILE, Ala. -- The Montevallo softball team blanked Spring Hill College 7-0 on Friday afternoon. The Falcons improved to 6-3 with the win, while Spring Hill fell to 3-6.
Taylor Robinson had two RBIs in the game, while
Lauren Higginbotham had a pair of hits. In the circle,
Mychael McMillan went the distance for the Falcons to earn the shutout. She limited the Badgers to three hits, while striking out seven and walking three batters.
The Falcons got on the board in the second inning with a pair of runs.
Kinley Adams scored the first run on a ground-out by
Taylor Robinson. Then,
Sierra Easterwood brought home the second run on an infield single
Alisha Lanyon.
In the fourth inning, the Falcons piled on four more runs to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
Callie Ryan scored the first run of the inning on an RBI single by
Bryana Freshour.
Sydnee Pawlak followed
with an RBI double that scored pinch runner
Sawyer Martin, making it 4-0.
Holly Massey and Pawlak both scored on ground-outs to increase the Falcons' lead to 6-0.
Robinson rounded out the scoring in the seventh inning with a solo homerun.
Next up - The two teams will meet again on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
