UM Softball Drops a Pair at Spring Hill College

MOBILE, Ala. -- The Montevallo softball team had a tough day on Saturday, losing a pair of games against Spring Hill College 7-0 and 8-2. The Falcons fell to 6-5 with the losses.

In the opening game, the Falcons managed only three hits and were shut out for the first time in 2022. Alisha Lanyon, Callie Ryan and Jordan Blair had the hits for the Falcons. Pitcher Mabry Norris took the loss for the Falcons. She lasted three innings, gave up four runs on six hits She had a strikeout and three walks. 

In game two, the Falcons took a two-run lead in the top of the third inning on a two-run single by Lanyon. But, Spring Hill answered with four in the bottom of the inning and matched that effort in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

Ryan was 2-for-2 at the plate for the Falcons who had only five hits in the game. Kaylee Hawkins took the loss in the circle. She pitched three innings allowed four runs on six hits. She also had two strikeouts.

The Falcons hope to regroup next weekend when they visit Delta State in the first Gulf South Conference series of the season. The series will take place on Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26 in Cleveland, Miss.
