MONTEVALLO – The Montevallo baseball team took a 9-1 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan Sunday at Bob Riesener, completing a three game sweep over the Panthers. With the win the Falcons advance to 11-0 and the Panthers slip to 0-5.
The hot streak of
Sam Kuchinski continued in the final game as he stepped up the plate and hit a home run with two on base during his first at bat to give Montevallo an early 3-0 lead.
Montevallo scored the fourth run after a
Reed Latimer single sent
Sam Kuchinski home from third base to set the score at 4-0 in the third inning.
The Falcons found their next run in the fifth inning after
Jake Smallwood went yard to bring himself home for UM's fifth. That same inning
Mitch Fleming hit a double to left field that brought
Riley Cain home for another run. During the following at bat
Will Pratt notched a double that brought Fleming home to give the Falcons a 7-0 lead.
Montevallo added secured two more runs after
Sam Kuchinski hit yet another home run to bring himself and
Brooks Cooner home for the eighth and ninth runs in the eighth inning.
The Panthers notched their first run of the ball game in the ninth inning after Jaret Humphrey hit a homerun into left field.
Montevallo sealed the deal after a ground out to short stop for the final out of the series
UP NEXT: The Falcons head over to Tuskegee to face the Tigers, with first pitch slated for Wednesday, February 23rd at 12:00 PM on the road.
