Falcons Win Fourth Straight in Women's Basketball, Knocking off Shorter on the Road

ROME, Ga. - The Montevallo women's basketball team used a big second half to storm past Shorter University 75-65 on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons evened their record at 11-11 and 7-7 in the Gulf South Conference with their fourth straight win.

Reigning GSC and National Player of the Week Marisa Snodgrass had 19 points to lead the Falcons. She was 6-for-12 from the field, with four 3-pointers. She was also a perfect 3-for-3 from the freethrow line. Forward Jennifer Andrew added 18 points on 6-of-8 fieldgoals and 6-of-9 freethrows.

Jasmine Gaines led Shorter with a game-high 20 points, while Azaria Howard tallied 16.

The Falcons trailed 33-32 at halftime, but opened the second half scoring the first eight points and outscoring Shorter 25-14 in the third quarter. The rally gave the Falcons a 57-47 lead heading into the final period.

UM began the fourth quarter, much like the third, scoring the first eight points to take a commanding lead. A layup by Shyan Flack gave UM a 65-47 lead with 7:31 left. The Hawks got within single digits twice down the stretch, but would not get closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Next up, the Falcons host West Florida at Trustmark Arena on Thursday night. Tip time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
